Im going to south france later in the year and want some stylish swimwear for it. I dont want the full costume, maybe a bikini ar tankini.

say in a 50m/yd race... If you have tried finding this out to get a time difference can you tell me how many seconds the swimwear shaved off?

Whether you are the Alaska state champion in the 50 free or the Pennsylvania state champion in the 1650 free like me, anybody will be able to tell you that the less you wear in the water the faster you go. For example if you wear sweatpants in the water , you will go alot faster if you have a suit on that is thin. For the time you can't drop too much if you an experienced swimmer and swim constantly. If you swim for recreation time you might drop about 1-2 seconds. If you would swim a longer distance event with a lot of drag , when you would swim it again with less on you will drop major time. This is an example why I wear 2 suits at practice so when I come intona championship meet I feel like weight is lost on me.

If you are competitively swimming then wear the competitive swim wear.You will probably shave 1 or 2 seconds off and you wont have to work so hard because of the less drag.I'd reccomend a speedo jammer they have many different colors and sizes. Hope this helps.

I am a Lifeguard/WSI instructor, our Pool facility has basically 1 rule. Swimwear Only. Almost ALL of our swimmers wear swimsuits ranging from 1 piece racers (women) men racer briefs to actual bikinis. I wear a racer on duty I have seen maybe a few wear the Baggies, that's it. So why do I see and read in this forum all negative opinions about swimwear.

Hi Mate, In Australia this swimwear rule as always been when using any public swimming pools or spa's. What is ironic is only in the US there has always been negative opinion about guys wearing speedos or brief racing swimwear. Americans all think speedos are European or Brazilian swimwear. Well they are 100% Australian made and designed. Since I can remember I've only have worn only just a speedo or similar swimwear (Aussie Bum) to the beach or while swimming at the pool. All guys here in Australia always do and they always have. None of us Aussies have any psycosexual or any body image hang ups, even Aussie women sit at the pool or beach topless. When I went to the US as a exchange student , I was staying with a Australian family in a house right on the beach.It was great being summer in the US and I could still keep my fitness up with my daily surf lifesaving training like I do here in Australia. After a week I realized why people were all staring at me or asking me was I from Europe. I was the only guy at the beach everyday who only wore speedos. While all others on the beach wore very long baggy shorts and tee shirts at the beach.I remember being told daily by a very large obese American woman who lived next door to where I was staying kept saying what I was wearing was offensive that I should cover up. Blah Blah Blah. It didn't take me not long to realize how morally psycosexual most US people were about there body image. When I started high school there I was put on the high school swim/ dive and water polo team during training I only wore a speedo like we do at school here. The other guys on the team wore what they do at the beach. When the coach handed us all a school team speedo to change into. I must have stood there for at least half the lesson just waiting for the other guys to change. When they walked out to the pool they were teeshirt and shinned tanned chubby and totally useless, by being paranoid every time when a teacher walked over to the coach. All I can say it's great to be back home in OZ

well...mostly the swim suit of choice would be the fast skin or shark skin but those are extremely expensive and they squeeze the life out of you XD just use a speedo and reduce your actual size by 2 for competition

Speedo Vanquishers are by far the best goggles I've ever used. I've been swimming competitively for 10 years now and i've tried most types of goggles! I highly recommend the vanquishers. They sell them all over the place too so just go to any sports store and they'll definitely have them.

Yes of course, there is line of goggles from Speedo, called the Speedo Vanquisher goggles, that were made for olympic level swimmers, but have gone on the market at your local retail store like Target and are extremely durable and obviously well-made. However, goggles will not last you a lifetime, they are not invincible so you will have to get newer pairs in the future.

speedo speed socket goggles. they are really comfortable and don't leak. u need to wash them off with freshwater like the directions say so that the antifog layer doesn't get damaged

I would suggest that you visit the sites below. Some are for aspiring designers, some are for reading material. I would also suggest that you call your local (or closest) community college) They usually have a "community education" or "Learning Annex" type of program. At my local Community College you can get one day or 2 days workshops, varying in hours and price. usually 29-99 dollars. and the "teacher" is someone in that chosen field. You can also call your local fabric stores, they usually hold beginners classes and advanced classes and even one on one sewing classes. They will also be the ones that can direct you best to local pattern makers, seamstresses and other small business owners that deal with design. You can contact these peple and become their interns to learn as much as you can hands on or simply ask them questions.

The triangle bikini is great for creating cleavage! - and you'll look tantalizing since becasue you won't be busting out of it!

Oh, also, patterns are great for creating curves (ie. stripes, polka dots, whatever you prefer).

Avoid dark colors if you can - they'll only minimize what you have.

try keeping a rhythm, like breathing every three strokes, also, try working on lung capacity, like distance running, any cardiovascular workout is good. I hope this helps!!!! Good luck!!!!!! :)

Breathing is a bit different, but not that much. Most people breathe every other stroke (and most probably breathe from their right side). Just think to yourself "1, breathe, 3, breathe, 5, breathe." Every time you hit an odd number, turn slightly to one side and take a deep breath as you are pulling with your other arm. I breathe every 4th stroke so I go "1, 2, 3, breathe." After you get that down you can try to do bi-lateral breathing, where you breathe every 3rd stroke. After you breathe, make sure you expel all of the air you just took in.

Remember to pace yourself and you'll get much better over time.

Also do other excerises and sports that will help your breathing. Yoga, singing, running, etc.

Make sure you're breathing right. Breath from your side when your arm is going over your head. Ask your coach.

Remember that in breast stroke you breathe every single time-so you shouldn't compare yourself to that. For me, breast stroke is my worst!

dont try to go fast.

you have to build up your breath control.

try holding your breath for half the pool. take a deep breath the swim the a fourth, deep breath then swim the rest.

dont breath every stroke because theres a changed your being winded from breathing TOO much. but just take it easy. dont do anything you cant do. just work on a lot of breath control.

my coach will make up hold our breath for three strokes, then five, then seven, then nine. i would start off with three maybe and work your way up.

just take it easy.

take it slower... work on your endurance and strength. break it down and do drills... like maybe just the kick and then just the stroke. then catch up and fingertip and breathing every 6 or so... also try breathing exercises... like maybe try to swim one lap taking as few breaths as possible or hold your breath for a while.

Don't breathe every stroke. Breathe every 3-5 strokes, and make sure your strokes are long and stretched out.
